Toronto Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Meeting Against defending champion Dodgers
Springer contributed to the Astros winning the championship in 2017.
The Toronto Blue Jays earned a spot in their maiden World Series since the 1993 season by defeating the Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the American League Championship Series.
Trailing 3-1, Springer smashed a three-run homer in the seventh, leading the Toronto squad in MLB to a 4-3 series victory in the best-of-seven series. They will now face the defending champions, the team that is the defending champions, in the anticipated World Series.
"I'm just so happy for this squad, Toronto, our country," said Springer, an integral part of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 title. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."
George Springer has now hit twenty-three October home runs, ranking him third in history after Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).
"It's hard to imagine another person in the world that I'd choose in that situation other than George Springer with his playoff prowess," remarked Schneider.
Seattle, after leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, continue to be the one club never to appear in a Fall Classic.
Manager Dan Wilson commented "there's no question that it hurts" in the wake of his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but applauded their performance this season.
"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we ended up on the wrong side of this one," he remarked.
The Blue Jays secured the title on their two prior appearances in 1992 and 1993, and will host the Los Angeles in the first game on this Friday.
