The British player advanced to round three in three of the four Grand Slam events in the current campaign.

Britain's Emma Raducanu has pulled out of the last two tournaments of the year because of a medical condition she has been fighting in recent days.

The 22-year-old was scheduled to compete in Tokyo and Hong Kong but has decided to fly home to recover ahead of launching next year's training.

Those preparations will involve coach Francisco Roig, as they have agreed to work together for the upcoming season.

The tennis professional underwent blood pressure monitoring in her opening round with Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and stopped playing when trailing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

She again required medical attention at the recent Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the opening round.

Raducanu was also moving noticeably restricted in the deciding set against Zhu owing to back discomfort that has been a concern on several occasions in 2025.

These outcomes signaled a promising season, in which Raducanu rose into the world's top 30 after a long gap for the first time since 2022, finished with a trio of defeats.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points before losing to Jessica Pegula in round three in last month's Beijing event.

The player achieved 28 victories this year and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but her most impressive week was at March's Miami Open.

As Britain's top player reached the quarter-finals of this WTA 1000 tournament, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way prior to a loss in three sets to fourth-ranked Pegula.

Her coach was Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role for the US Open.

The first plan with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was for the remainder of the year but they will keep working together, with a training session scheduled late this year.

The athlete revealed that a three-day test period alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

She came very close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in Cincinnati during August.

Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she made the third stage then falling to 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
